Submissions for the 2027 WELU are now open!

The Western Environmental Law Update (WELU) began as an annual publication tracing how western states confront environmental challenges through law. It has since evolved into an art-centered zine, released each year alongside the Public Interest Environmental Law Conference (PIELC). The zine gathers creative responses to contemporary environmental issues and gives anyone a space to share their perspective through art. Contributions often include photography, painting, drawing, poetry, prose, and mixed media. Submissions are open to everyone, so we invite you to bring your creativity to this year’s edition by clicking “Make a Submission.”
